Come on, he obviously represented PN or one of its antecessors. Gonzi was always a fierce nationalist, proof of this is his condemnation of Labourites in the post-WWII period which was due to his will to favour PN and nothing more. He never got involved into party politics. He represented the clergy in the Senate. The MLP or its antecessor.
