Your Inner Self

You approach the boy and ask him what he is doing. If he's seems lost, confused or troubled, you find out what the problem is and help if you can. You don't approach the boy. You continue walking and think that he probably just fell in a puddle or something. You don't approach the boy. You think he's just another victim of society and know approaching would only make you sadder.

If you can still see the person, you go and tell them they left their bag or bring the bag to them. They thank you but once they leave you stop feeling good about it and think that that another person might have just taken the bag. You don't give it much thought. If they don't remember it and come back, some one else will see that they get it. You go grab the bag and bring it to the person. If they have left and don't appear to be coming back, you give the bag to a staff member to give back to the person when they return. You feel good about what you did even if nobody thanked you.

You assume that the girl didn't want the rest of her cone, and quickly forget about the whole thing. You feel sympathetic for the girl and even the boy to. After all, he probably learned that behavior from his family or friends. You accept it and don't feel it is your place to intervene. You go over to the boy and ask him to give the cone back to his sister. Whether he gives it back or doesn't, explain why what he did was wrong.

You are disappointed in the people working at the restaurant, but not angry. You don't blame them specifically, but feel sad in the fact that people don't care, or are lazy. You give your friend part of your order. You share your meal with your friend but make a mental note to talk to a manager next time you go to the restaurant. You don't get angry because it may have been an honest mistake, and it has never happened before. You think that the problem was caused by mechanical, not human error, and that it must be a very rare occurrence.
