Because of the LTA deciding to free up land space. Because provisions have been made at this station for North Shore Line, a train route connecting Pasir Ris, Punggol and Sembawang without interchanging. Due to the low approaches made by approaching aircrafts. The land above is not strong enough to supprot the viaducts.
