Why Do I Learn?

going to food committee to discuss fair trade food. going to the Human Rights active. helping out in the museum. joining the peer support group to offer counselling to your friends. part of the young enterprise group. solving a crossword puzzle. working on your project in DT school writing in your journal

Amuse yourself with memories of people and places from your past. Build a shelter. Convince the natives to adopt a more equitable way of living. Go and explore the ancient ruins nearby. Look about for anything you can sell back home. Sit down and consider what your fears are and whether they are rational. Think carefully of the best way to ensure that all of those with you can live happily. Work out how you got here.

A calculator. A free and just society. A mirror with which to examine myself. A pen and paper. A screwdriver. I'd ask the others what they wanted. Nothing but courage and my adventurous nature. Why? What's yours? Trade them?

ask yourself how people will be able to make it work. ask yourself what you want. ask yourself what's fairest. consider why you're finding it so difficult. consider which way will benefit me the most. look at other people's solution to the problem. look for the most virtuous solution. think logically.

celebrate the school's fine traditions and ceremonies. ensure that students and staff reflect on why do what they do. hand over the running of the school to the students. to create rigorous, logical thinkers. to develop the students as rounded, virtuous individuals. to ensure that parents got the most for their fees. to give more scope for individual expression. to sort out the classrooms and resources.
