POLL: How do you feel about your MO Legislature preventing persistent DWI offenders from being sent to prision

The Missouri Legislature is in the process of creating new guidelines for parole. Senator Matt Bartle has proposed that persistent DWI offenders (4 or more DWI's) should not recieve prison time, regardless of the prison sentence imposed by a judge (i.e. if a judge senteces someone to 10 years in prison for his 6th DWI, he would be immediately placed on parole and released). The proposal would accomplish this goal by defining persisent DWI offenses as non-violent felonies. This would place a person committing thier 6th DWI offense in the same category as non-payment of child support. Do believe that persistent DWI offenders are "non-violent offenders" and not removed from society?

It should depend on the case and left to the judge's discretion If a person commits 4 DWI offenses in 10 years with the last offense having a BAC of more than .150, they should be removed from the streets.

Persistent DWI offenses are "violent offenses" Yes, any person who commits 4 or more DWI offenses has such disregard for human life and the law that they are violent offenders and should be removed from our streets.

They are non-violent offenses, Matt Bartle has got it right. Drive as drunk as you want, endanger as many families as you can, & we'll leave you out on the streets.

Violent or not, they don't need to be on our streets The legislature can hide behind all the terminalogy they want, any person who commits 4 or more DWI offenses is a danger to society and should not be on our streets.
